MAE MOH MINE
Virtual Field Trip by Department of Geology
Chulalongkorn University
Welcome to a virtual field trip to the Mae Moh Mine, Lampang, northern Thailand. It is the largest coal mine in Thailand, which is managed by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The location of this virtual field trip is located in the B7 zone (red box on the satellite image). Click on the Aerial Overview menu below for an overview of the area.
Note: field data and 360-degree photographs were taken during 2nd-3rd November 2020. This field trip is designed for geology students to explore the structural geology within the Mae Moh Basin (see Geological Background for details). The assignment allows students to improve their structural interpretation skills.
